European Language SchoolsEurope has a long tradition of language instruction and language learning. You only need to look at a map of Europe to immediately see why the need and desire for learning European languages have been long-standing elements of life in Europe. Language learning in Europe is quite popular and there are a great many established, in-country language schools that specialize in teaching the school’s host-country language to foreigners. Spanish schools, French schools, Italian schools, and German schools, as well as Greek schools and Russian schools are among the most popular. These schools provide effective language instruction in what is essentially and intensive study abroad format. College students, grad students, adults, and teens are all eligible to take part in the intensive language courses offered at these schools. While each school may have a minimum age requirement, or a specified age range for teen or youth summer language camps, enrolment is otherwise open. As a general rule, most of the European language schools listed on this site offer a "standard intensive" language courses. These courses consist of 20 class-hours per week of instruction divided into 4 class-hours per day, with specific hours dedicated to grammar, writing, conversation, and other subjects. In addition to providing language instruction, many of the European language schools arrange homestays and other living accommodation for their students.
